Denver Center Attractions announced Sept. 26 that the national tour of A Chorus Line will launch at the Buell Theatre in May 2008 as part of DCA's coming season.

The other touring musicals that will play in 2008 at Denver Center for the Performing Arts (where DCA presents) are My Fair Lady, Sweeney Todd, Avenue Q, The Drowsy Chaperone and Jersey Boys, plus a Denver Center Theatre Company-produced staging of 3 Mo' Divas.

The tour of the hit Broadway revival of A Chorus Line will have its first engagement May 4-17, 2008, in DCPA's The Buell Theatre. Original co-choreographer Bob Avian directed and choreographed the new production of the groundbreaking musical that director-choreographer Michael Bennett made a smash. The score is by Marvin Hamlisch and Ed Kleban; the book is by Nicholas Dante and James Kirkwood. The musical won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

The 2006 Broadway production is still going strong at the Schoenfeld Theatre.

Denver Center Attractions also promised the following in 2008:

  • My Fair Lady, the Lerner and Loewe musical based on Pygmalion, Buell Theatre, March 26-April 6, 2008.

  • 3 Mo' Divas, a "musical celebration of class, sass and style is directed and choreographed by Marion J. Caffey," May 9-June 29, 2008, in The Stage Theatre, produced by the not-for-profit Denver Center Theatre Company and open to DCTA and DCA subscribers.

  • Sweeney Todd, John Doyle's new take on the musical by Hugh Wheeler and Stephen Sondheim, in which actors double as the onstage orchestra, Buell Theatre, June 17 - June 29, 2008.

  • Avenue Q, the coming-of-age musical that mixes puppets and people to Tony Award-winning effect, The Ellie Caulkins Opera House, Sept. 9-21, 2008.

  • The Drowsy Chaperone, the musical comedy about a rabid musical comedy fan and his favorite show, Buell Theatre, Oct. 14-26, 2008.

  • The Jersey Boys, the Tony-winning musical bio about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Buell Theatre, December 2008 dates to be announced.

In addition to these seven musicals, a production in The Garner Galleria Theatre, is also being planned for Denver Center Attractions' 2008 subscription series.

This title and more details will be announced at a later date.

Single tickets are not available at this time. For more information about subscriptions, visit www.denvercenter.org/bwaysubs.

The Denver Center for the Performing Arts presents and produces live theatre with Broadway touring shows, cabaret productions and a professional theatre company. The DCPA is the site of training schools for actors, a voice research laboratory and unique rental facilities.

Denver Center Attractions "is a preferred stop on the Broadway touring circuit and has launched many national touring premieres," according to DCA. Center Attractions also produces cabaret shows.

The Tony Award-winning Denver Center Theatre Company is the largest professional theatre company between Chicago and the West Coast. It produces traditional and contemporary drama and world premieres.
