PHOTO CALL: 9 to 5: The Musical Aims for Broadway

By Ernio Hernandez
15 Jul 2008

Allison Janney, Stephanie J. Block and Megan Hilty will punch the clock for boss Marc Kudisch in the Broadway-bound 9 to 5: The Musical, which features songs by Dolly Parton.

Joe Mantello will direct the musical just announced to arrive at Broadway's Marquis in March 2009. Andy Blankenbuehler choreographs.

Based on the 1980 film, the new musical features a book by original screenwriter Patricia Resnick with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton.

"When pushed to their boiling point by their boss, Franklin Hart Jr. (Kudisch), Violet Newstead (Janney), the super efficient office manager, Judy Bernly (Block), a frazzled divorcee, and the sexy executive secretary Doralee Rhodes (Hilty) turn the tables on him. The trio hatches a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot, and that plan quickly spins wildly and hilariously out of control."

Here is a first look at 9 to 5: The Musical:
