Amaral and Newsome Are The Producers for Westchester Broadway Theatre

By Adam Hetrick
24 Jul 2008

Bob Amaral and Joel Newsome will head the cast of the Westchester Broadway Theatre production of Mel Brooks' Tony-winning hit The Producers, which begins performances Aug. 7.

Amaral, a veteran of Broadway's The Lion King and the national tour of The Producers, stars as Max Bialystock with fellow Producers national tour cast member Joel Newsome as Leo Bloom.

Also featured are Karen McNay as Ulla, Craig Fols as Roger DeBris, John West as Carmen Ghia and Eric Anderson as Franz Liebkind.

The Producers ensemble comprises Delaine Andrzejewski, Jesse Coleman, Amy Griffin, Karen Hyland, John Ryan Jacobs, Sean McNight, Rob Oullette, Lindsay Packard, Ron Remke, Lara Seibert, Melissa Sybil, Anthony Valbiro, Correy West, Tracy J. Wholf and Jesse Wildman.

Producers tour alumnus David Edwards directs the Westchester staging that features choreography by Matthew Vargo and assistant Sean McKnight.

The creative team also includes Peter Barbieri (set design), Andrew Gmoser (lighting design), Jon Hatton (sound design), Matthew Hemesath (costume design) and Gerard Kelly (wig and hair design).

Featuring a book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan, with a score by Brooks, The Producers follows a conniving Broadway producer and his neurotic accountant who discover that they could make more money off a flop than a smash hit. However, they get more than they bargained for when their flop, Springtime for Hitler, turns out to be a raging success.

The Producers officially opens Aug. 14 and will continue through Nov. 15. For tickets call (914) 592-2222 or visit Broadwaytheatre.com.
