Victor/Victoria's York Will Guest Star on "Hannah Montana"

By Andrew Gans
25 Jul 2008

Rachel York, the singing actress who will star in the upcoming world premiere of Turn of the Century, will make a guest appearance on the Aug. 3 broadcast of "Hannah Montana."

York will play Isis on the Disney Channel hit, which airs at 8:30 PM ET; check local listings. York's character Isis is a "Madonna-esque pop diva who encourages Hannah (series star Mylie Cyrus) to change her image in order to stay successful," according to press notes.

York, who was recently seen in the national tour of Camelot, was last on Broadway in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. A Drama Desk Award-winning actress, York's additional stage credits include Sly Fox; Dessa Rose; Kiss Me, Kate; City of Angels; Les Misérables; The Scarlet Pimpernel; and Victor/Victoria. York also appeared as Reno Sweeney in the Reprise! staging of Anything Goes, as Mother in the Paper Mill Playhouse mounting of Ragtime, and she portrayed television legend Lucille Ball in the CBS movie "Lucy." Her debut solo recording is titled "Let's Fall in Love."

York will also be seen in the Broadway-bound musical Turn of the Century penned by Jersey Boys librettists Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice. The production, directed by Tommy Tune, co-stars Jeff Daniels and will premiere at Chicago's Goodman Theatre in the fall prior to a possible transfer to New York in 2009.
