The Heat Is On: Anti-Musical Performance of Missed Sigh Gone Plays Boston, Feb. 24

The Asian American Resource Workshop and Boston Progress will present Missed Sigh Gone, a performance in response to the popular Alain Boublil and Claude Michel Schonberg musical, Miss Saigon.
The event is scheduled to perform Feb. 24 at 7 PM in the Jorge Hernandez Cultural Center.
The work, described as a "live performance of art, theater, and music by the local Asian American community" reacts to what the group feels are racial stereotypes found in the musical Miss Saigon.
The musical has drew criticism for casting British actor Jonathan Pryce in a role suited for an Asian as well as its depiction of Asian women as prostitutes. The work also caught negative publicity in Boston for another reason, when a union demonstration by Actors' Equity Association nearly shut down the opening of a non Equity touring production of Miss Saigon at Boston's Wang Center for the Performing in 2003.
